Reviews for: It's Chili by George!!

5 stars 1098 Reviews
This is a good, standard chili, with lots of ground beef, tomatoes, kidney and pinto beans, and onions. It needs to simmer for 90 minutes on the stove, or can be made in a slow cooker and left to simmer all day.

"I just made this and it was delicious. I added a little more Cayenne Pepper to give it a punch. I got lucky. This was my first time making Chili and it was borderline too spicy for me but my Husband loves it. Next time around I will definitely add chunky tomatoes for more texture and flavor. But this Chili as is would be great, too."

"Wow, this was really really delicious! I used ground chicken instead of beef because it was on sale at the grocery store (haha), and I used two teaspoons of cayenne pepper instead of 1/8th of a teaspoon (that really seems negligibly small) and 1 extra teaspoon of salt. Other than that I followed the directions exactly!"

"I made this chili for my dad and Uncles for football Sunday and it was a big hit! I took the advice from other reviews and substituted diced tomatoes in their own juices for the tomato juice, and it made the chili nice and hearty. I also added an extra half a can of both beans and it made all the difference."

"This chilli was fabulous! i used ground turkey meat instead and 2 large cans of peeled plum shape tomatoes (just crush to tomatoes with your fingers) my husband just loved it! I will definately be making this again soon!"

"Agree with everyone -- an excellent starting point for personalizing chili. I added a 10oz. can of Rotel and subtracted 10oz. from the tomato juice. I used chili beans instead of pinto beans and brown sugar instead of white. I cooked in a crock pot and it was a bit runny, so I cooked with the lid off for the last hour or so, which helped thicken it up."

"Awesome chili! I halved the recipe and it came out great. I used a 19 oz can of tomato juice and it was not soupy at all."

"I have never made chili before, and this was Delicious...I used ground turkey, and could not tell the difference. I also used diced tomatoes in place of the tomato juice as others suggested. Thank you for a great recipe :-)"

"This is a really nice meaty chili. The biggest change I made was to add fresh tomatoes instead of canned- i didn't have any canned on hand but I think I liked the fresh better! Also, I cut down on the juice."

"I loved the taste, but it was way too thin/soupy for my liking. Next time, I would cut down on the tomato soup and maybe add some tomato paste to thicken it up a bit."

"My husband is very picky about his chili and I have never found the receipe that will suit him. He and I both loved this recipe!! I used diced tomatoes in place of the tomato juice, added a can of corn and black beans, and added half the onions near the very end of cooking for more crunchy texture. It was great!!"
